Frederick E. Kahn, M.D.
Dr. Kahn has over 30 years of experience in psychiatry, psychopharmacology, addiction medicine, and psychoanalysis. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a BA in History, and received his M.D. at the Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Kahn completed his psychiatric residency at Columbia University School of Medicine/St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City, where he was Chief Resident and an attending physician. Dr. Kahn is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and is a member of the AMA and NJSAM (New Jersey Society of Addiction Medicine). He also is a certified psychoanalyst, having completed his training at the William Alanson White Institute for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy in 1989. Dr. Kahn has worked in variety of settings including inpatient, outpatient, partial hospital, and inpatient rehabilitation settings. He received a DATA 2000 waiver for the use of Buprenorphine in treatment by SAMHSA in 2009. Dr. Kahn has practiced in New Jersey since 1990 and has been chosen as a Top Doctor in Bergen County by Bergen Magazine. Dr Kahn lives with the his family in Cresskill.
Ryan Barr, PA
Ryan Barr is a certified Physician Assistant passionate about psychiatry, with a background in neurology and primary care medicine. Ryan received a bachelor’s degree in both psychology and journalism from Rowan University. Upon graduating, he began working as an EEG technician on the pediatric epilepsy unit at Hackensack University Medical Center where he developed a fascination with the brain. Mr. Barr later received his master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies from Pace University in New York, NY. The opportunity afforded him an incredible and varied experience to learn from world-class clinicians across multiple specialties from neurosurgery at Lenox-Hill Hospital on the Upper East Side to psychiatry at Brookdale Hospital in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Mr. Barr considers himself grateful to be a part of a profession where he can improve the quality of life in patients suffering from depression, anxiety, ADD/ADHD, and opioid dependence. Ryan utilizes his background in neurology to gain a better understanding of the physical and physiological basis of psychiatric disorders.
Lisa Villano, LPC, LCADC
Ms. Villano has been practicing psychotherapy for 18 years, specializing in co-occurring disorders, addiction, marital and family therapy, and anxiety disorders. She received her BA at the County College of Morris, and her MA in counseling at Fairleigh Dickinson University, with a concentration in Addictions. Ms. Villano is skilled in technology needs analysis, quality assurance, staff training, and the oversight of licensing and program development.
John Veliky, LCSW
John Veliky is a licensed clinical social worker who received his MSW from New York University in 1999 after completing undergraduate degrees at William Paterson College and State University of New York - FIT. He has worked with individuals, groups, and families in a variety of settings. Anxiety, relationship issues, grief, loss, anger, addictions, and depression are the areas of his expertise. His training and experience allow him to develop working relationships in a caring, supportive, and non-judgmental environment.
Ms. Rosa, who is the first person you will speak with when seeking admission, has been in the healthcare industry for 25 years and coordinates all patient related functions and business operations for Forest Recovery and Psychiatric Group. She insures that the administrative details of our services are handled smoothly and with confidentiality. Ms. Rosa has in-depth knowledge of patient services, medical billing, and accounts payable and receivable.

Ms. Schorr has over twenty-five years of experience in delivering high quality, value-oriented healthcare and substance use disorder treatment services. Ms. Schorr is an owner and Vice President of West Midtown Medical Group, an Opioid Treatment Program (OTP), chemical dependence outpatient and Article 28 comprehensive primary care facility located in Midtown Manhattan. All three co-located and fully integrated programs meet the rigorous national accreditation standards of the Joint Commission. Through her efforts, West Midtown Medical Group became the first opioid treatment program to dispense Buprenorphine in an OTP setting in New York State. Ms. Schorr serves as President of the Coalition of Medication Assisted Treatment Providers and Advocates (COMPA), New York State’s OTP/MAT provider association. Ms. Schorr represents New York State on the National Board of the American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence (AATOD). Ms. Schorr is the Conference Chair of the 2018 National AATOD Conference, sponsored by the NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) on March 10 -14 2018, at the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square. Over 2,000 people are expected to attend the National conference. Ms. Schorr is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College and expects to complete her Masters of Science in Healthcare Management at Rutgers University-School of Health Professionals at the end of 2018. Ms. Schorr is married to Dr. Frederick Kahn and lives with their family in Cresskill, NJ.
Catherine Spohn MS, MFT
Catherine earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from Villanova University and received her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Mercy College. At Forest Psychiatric Associates, Catherine works with individuals, couples, families and groups to assist clients with variety of issues including substance dependence and addiction, depression, anxiety, relationship stress and other mental health and family concerns. She takes pride in creating an open, accepting environment with clients and uses a warm, calm approach to therapy that encourages emotional growth and healthier relationships. She is committed to helping her clients improve their well-being.
Karolyna Fernandez MPC
Karolyna Fernandez is a graduate of William Paterson University and Rutgers University. Having recently completed a Masters in Clinical and Counseling Psychology, she is pursuing further certifications for an LAC and LCADC. Ms. Fernandez has worked with Dr. Kahn for the past four years starting as a receptionist and working her way up to a counseling position. Ms. Fernandez utilizes a supportive, patient centered approach to treatment. Ms. Fernandez conducts individual group and family-counseling emphasizing how individual issues profoundly affect each facet of the family system.
